ABOUT DCP
Detroit Composers' Project is a new organization aiming to empower composers and performers by creating opportunities for meaningful collaboration and imaginative performances, inside and outside of the Detroit-area. Our team came together over a year ago, in hopes of building more opportunities for composers and performers to collaborate on contemporary music. We are equally passionate about both facilitating meaningful artistic partnerships, as well as helping artists build successful careers through professional development and project fundraising.
We are always looking for new ways to collaborate, with our past, current, and planned activities including:
Since recently forming, we have commissioned over 10 works and engaged over 20 composers and performers. We have presented 5 performances so far, with a combined audience count of over 350 listeners (700 ears). Our projects have received support from the Michigan Council for Arts & Cultural Affairs, University of Michigan's SMTD EXCEL Program, and the Detroit Institute of Arts. So far our programs have been featured alongside the Third Place Concert Series (Ann Arbor, MI) and Strange Beautiful Music (Detroit, MI).
